Malibu is on fire again, nearly a month after wildfires ripped through Southern California and killed 14 people. It began around 3:30 AM, yesterday, near the top of Corral Canyon.

According to the county fire inspector, the brushfire that broke out early yesterday was caused by humans but it is still unknown whether it was intentional.

As of 6:30 this morning, the Malibu city website reported that 51 structures were destroyed and another 27 damaged.

Over 10,000 have been evacuated from the Malibu area under mandatory evacuation.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky said that 1,700 firefighters have been dispatched to fight the fire. At the same time, twenty-three aircrafts have been assigned to assist in the area. Currently 1,300 homes are without power.

Seven firefighters were reportedly injured but their injuries were described as minor.

County firefighters hope to have this fire fully contained by Tuesday and have even begun to let some evacuees return to their homes.

A Malibu resident told KNBC that she knocked on the homes of both Minnie Driver and Matthew McConaughey this morning to tell them they had to leave their homes due to the fire. Matthew’s rep said that he was evacuated, but that everything is fine. A rep for Minne could not be reached.

Manager to Flea, the bassist for the the Red Hot Chili Peppers also confirmed earlier that the Pepper bassist did not lose his home yesterday in the Malibu fires despite strong rumors by mainstream media.
